What is Scouting?
The BSA’s mission is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law. The Central Florida Council takes that a step further by not only instilling and living these values, but by giving youth the unparalleled experiences that young people crave.
Scouting is more than camping. It’s more than a club. Scouting is a way of life. From the moment your child joins Scouting, he or she begins to learn the skills, values, morals, and ethics that will be invaluable throughout their lives, all while having fun and making new lifelong friends.

What does Cub Scouting offer?
Cub Scouting offers fun and challenging activities that promote character development and physical fitness. Service projects, ceremonies, games, and other activities guide Scouts through the program's core values and give them a sense of personal achievement. Through positive peer group interaction and parental guidance, Scouts also learn honesty, bravery, and respect.
Cub Scouts Do Things and Go Places
Have you been to the local police station and talked to the policemen on duty? Or visited the fire station and sat in the driver's seat of the pumper truck? Or visited the local TV station and sat in the news anchor's chair? These are some of the places you might go with your den or pack. You might also build a pinewood derby car and race it on the track, build a sailboat or trimaran and race it in the raingutter regatta, or build a spaceship and race it to the stars in the pack space derby as well as visiting other exciting places.
Cub Scouts Earn Awards
Each time you complete an accomplishment or learn a new skill, you will be rewarded. Sometimes the reward is a bead or a patch. Sometimes it is a smile on your parents' faces to see you grow and learn.
How large are the dens?
Dens are usually comprised of 6-10 Scouts from the same grade and Cub Scouts rank, although the number can vary. Each Den has an adult leader and an adult assistant leader. Leaders are usually a parent of one of members of the Den. Anyone meeting the BSA's criteria can be a leader and the pack will provide all the training and assistance necessary to help new leaders with their programs.
